We are a UK engine manufacturing start-up, reducing the cost & emissions of heavy-duty power.

We have developed the world's most efficient engines, based out of our site in Milton Keynes, whilst using a wide range of low emission fuels.

Our world leading team comes from Aerospace, Formula 1 and Automotive engineering backgrounds.

Carnot wins three projects from the UK's Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition.

February 2024

A British shipping company pioneering high efficiency vessel design & operation invests in Carnot.

July 2023

Carnot secures a £2.3m grant to deploy the UK's first Hydrogen Engine Sea Trials.

February 2023

Carnot wins £1.5m Energy Catalyst 9 grant to develop off-grid biofuel generators

November 2022

Selected in Tech Nations Net Zero 3.0 cohort as one of the UK's most promising decarbonising start-ups

Awarded £500,000 Clean Maritime Demonstrator Grant 2 to develop our zero emission Auxiliary power units for the shipping industry.

International PCT & Domestic Patents filed

With research finding no prior art, 7 core innovations surrounding our technology were submitted

The proof of concept (POC) prototype completes manufacture and begins testing

Crowdcube - Round1

Launching our second Crowdcube round, we were able to raise £850,000 alongside some angel investors

Carisbrooke Shipping Partnerships

Partnering with Carisbrooke Shipping & CMDC developing Hydrogen/Ammonia blend Auxiliary engine

Working with large Australian mining organisation to co-develop their power needs towards Net Zero

Raised over £250,000 in crowdfunding on Crowdcube in pre-seed funding

Eureka Eurostars

Awarded grant of £300,000 to explore use of biogas in off-grid power applications.

In the Top 10 of over 400 applications to join the OGTC/NZTC incubator and provided £100,000 in support

Ian Thatcher

Senior Design Engineer
Ian has over 22 years of experience across a wide spectrum of projects; from cradle-to-grave designing of high-performance motorcycle engines in mass production whilst at Triumph Motorcycles Limited to the design and manufacture of one-off research engines during his time at MAHLE Powertrain. Ian has also previously held roles at Cummins Inc. and Integral Powertrain.

Duncan Dunbar

Design Engineer
Former Engineering Team Leader at world-champion winning F1 Mercedes AMG HPP. Leads engine block and driveline structural/dynamic design

Huw Griffiths

Head of Test & Development
Huw has over 10 years of experience working across automotive and motorsport. Previously Head of Test and Development at multiple world-championship winning Formula One team Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains following on from his time at Jaguar Land Rover..

Commercial

George Hunter

Head of Sales - George has spent his whole career in technology sales with a focus on developing international markets. This included a Queens Award for International Trade winning Distribution Network, exporting to over 120 countries . George also completed an MSc from University of Birkbeck and MA from University of Westminster.

Dr. Jeremy Howard-Knight

Head of Business Development - MazSci in Physics and PhD in Nanoscience from the Universities of Bristol and Sheffield respectively. Jeremy has been working on the leading edge of technology and product development for the last 18 years. Experience includes technology start-ups including Warwick Acoustics and multinational corporates including Siemens.

George is focused on technology commercialisation, with responsibilities spanning a range of sales & marketing activities
